Arthur KERRY, son of James KERRY (c. 1831-c. 1878) and Anne LEATHERS (c. 1839- ), was born circa 1862 in North Lopham, Norfolk. He was baptised on 19 July 1863 in North Lopham - parents James (labourer) and Anne. Arthur was attested into the military on 13 February 1883 at Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. From 13 February 1883 to 9 December 1883 he served on home soil. He joined at Bury St. Edmunds on 14 February 1883 Suffolk Regiment and then 'M' Company on 15.02.1983. He was transferred on 11 July 1883 to 2nd Battalion Suffolk Regiment, private, ser. no. 459, and to the 1st Battalion on 15.12.1883. From 13 December 1883 to 30 March 1886 he served in the East Indies. On 15 January 1884 he landed in India. On 15 February 1886 he was recommended for discharge through deafness as deemed unfit for service. On 4 May 1886 he was finally discharged having served for 3 years and 81 days. Arthur died circa 1914 - aged 52 years.
